Trekking in the mountain on high altitudes is always a fun and adventurous activity one can do. Hiking to a new place and witnessing the beautiful views from the top of the trek is always soothing and makes you feel like you are in a different world. Deoria Tal Trek – One Of The Beautiful Winter Trek has some jaw dropping views on reaching the top.

This is a short 3 Kms trek and the difficulty level is easy to moderate (depends upon first timer and regular trekkers). Not only from the top, but on the way to the top also has some great views to offer the visitors. Since it is a short one day trek, so guides are not required, however locals will be found on the way offering horses to reach the top, but if you are for trekking, then why to lose the enjoyment taking a horse (Khacchar).

About Deoria Tal Trek

Deoria Tal also known as Devariya Tal is a Lake which is located at an altitude of 2,438 meters (7,999 ft) above sea level. To reach and witness this beautiful lake, one need to do a trek of 3 Kms (approx) which starts from Sari Village which comes in the Rudra Prayag district of Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state.

Deoria Tal trek is most famous for its heavily wooded and lush green surroundings along with the view of beautiful snow-covered mountains.

The alternate name Devariya Tal, when broken down gives Devas & Tal. As per Hindu Mythology, it is believed that the Hindu gods (Devas) used to come and bath in this Tal (Lake).

How To Reach Deoria Tal Trek Base Camp (Sari Village)

Once you are in Uttarakhand, it is very easy to reach Sari Village as their is regular roadways bus service along with shared/private taxis. You can take a bus or taxis from Rishikesh till Ukhimath and from Ukhimath which is around 10 kms from Sari village, local taxis/trackers run continuously to Sari Village.

Reaching Rishikesh By Air: Nearest airport to Rishikesh is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun which is around 21 kms from Rishikesh. Cabs are easily available from Airport to Rishikesh.

Reaching Rishikesh By Train: Rishikesh has a railway station in the city, so you can take direct trains from Delhi till Rishikesh.

Reaching Rishikesh By Road: Rishikesh has a great connectivity by road as well. You can take roadways bus directly from Delhi/Dehradun/Haridwar or even you can hire a shared or private cabs. Roads are well built and has some great views.

Best Time To Go For Deoria Tal Trek

The best time to go for Deoria Tal Trek is March to May & October to November.

You can also go for this trek in the month of December & January, but it is not advisable as the trek has great amount of snow which makes the trek super difficult. Also the temperature at the top comes down to freezing point. But if you are ok with below freezing point temperature, then you can witness the complete snow covered Deoria Tal as well.

What To Carry For Your Trek

Although this is a short one day trek, but still it is advisable to carry enough water, energy bars, chocolates. But please do understand that protecting nature & its beauty is in our hand. So, please bring back the empty wrappers along with you and throw them in a dustbin, rather throwing them anywhere on the trek.

As an alternate and more appropriate things to carry are dry fruits, peanuts, bananas, and some other fruits. But do bring their waste along with you.

Forest Fees & Camping Charges

Since the Deoria Tal falls in reserve forest area, there is an entry fess which need to be paid as soon as you reach the top. Without this paid pass you wont be able to witness the beautiful lake. Below are the pricing for entry & camping at Deoria Tal:
