Char Dham Yatra 2025 suspended: A sudden cloudburst in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, on June 29 has halted the Char Dham Yatra 2025. The flash flood swept through parts of the Gangotri-Yamunotri route, leaving nine people missing.
Emergency teams responded within hours. Roads were damaged, and access to pilgrimage sites became unsafe due to landslides and heavy rainfall.
Yatra Halted for Safety Reasons
Authorities immediately suspended all pilgrim movement toward Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
“Pilgrim safety is our top priority. We’re monitoring the route and have set up shelters for those already on the path,” said an SDRF official.
The government has advised all travelers to remain at designated accommodation points. Many pilgrims are now waiting for further updates from district officials.

Devotion Meets Reality: A Pause, Not the End
Every year, lakhs of devotees walk the paths of the Char Dham with faith. Yet, these sacred routes cut through one of the most sensitive and rugged mountain terrains in India.
In recent years, new infrastructure, ropeway projects, and online registration systems have improved the experience. Still, nature remains a powerful factor in these high-altitude zones.
This suspension is temporary. However, it’s a strong reminder to travelers: pilgrimage requires both preparation and patience.
What’s Next?
- Authorities will reassess the situation on June 30
- Missing persons search will continue through coordinated efforts
- The reopening of the Yatra will be announced via official portals and district offices
Travelers are urged to stay updated through uk.gov.in, local DM offices, and registered travel partners.
